With Pay-as-you-go, you’re billed based on the usage your team generates. Usage accrues continuously as you make requests. You’re only charged for what you use, not a fixed monthly fee.
Billing thresholds
Instead of charging on a fixed schedule, Pay-as-you-go uses billing thresholds.
- Each account has a threshold that represents how much usage can accrue before a charge is attempted.
- When your balance reaches the threshold, we attempt to collect payment automatically.
- Thresholds can increase over time as invoices are successfully paid.
- Threshold growth is gradual and based on payment history, not sudden usage spikes.
Example
If your threshold is $50, we attempt to charge your payment method once your accrued usage reaches $50. That charge includes all usage since the last successful payment.
If the threshold is not reached, your balance carries forward.
Billing cadence
There is no fixed billing day for Pay-as-you-go accounts.
- Charges happen when your threshold is reached, or
- At the end of a billing period if there is an outstanding balance (typically the 1st of each month)
Each charge includes:
- Newly accrued usage
- Any unpaid balance from before
What happens when you don’t pay an invoice
If a charge or invoice is not paid:
- We retry payment attempts over a short time window.
- Continued non-payment will lead to temporary limits on usage.
- Usage is restored once the outstanding balance is settled.
Billing tips
- Keep payment details up to date: make sure your payment method is valid and up to date to avoid failed charges and interruptions.
- Admins are responsible for billing: only account admins can: manage payment methods, view and pay invoices, and make billing-related changes. If you’re not an account admin, you may need to contact one to resolve billing issues.
- Use the Dashboard for billing info: all billing-related information lives in the dashboard. Visit the billing page to view balances, invoices, payment history, and resolve overdue invoices.
