What is Monero?
Monero is a proof-of-work Layer 1 blockchain that uses ring signatures, stealth addresses, and RingCT to hide senders, recipients, and amounts in every transaction by default. Mining uses the RandomX algorithm, designed for general-purpose CPUs to resist ASIC concentration. XMR has no hard supply cap; tail emission produces a small, fixed block reward to keep miners incentivized after the main emission curve.
