What is Recap?
Recap is crypto tax and portfolio tracking software built in the UK. Users import transactions from exchanges via API or CSV and from on-chain wallets, and Recap calculates capital gains and income under HMRC share-pooling and bed-and-breakfast rules, producing reports for the SA108 section of a Self Assessment return. Separate versions produce US Form 8949 reports and SARS-oriented reports for South Africa. The app uses end-to-end encryption for user data, lets users preview their capital gains for free before choosing a paid plan, and includes an accountant portal for managing client reports. Recap won Best Tax Technology Product at the Tolley's Taxation Awards 2026.
