What is Stacks?

Stacks is a Bitcoin Layer 2 that anchors its state to Bitcoin blocks using a Proof of Transfer consensus, letting Bitcoin holders earn yield by stacking STX. Smart contracts are written in Clarity, a decidable language with no compiler, and can read Bitcoin state directly. The Nakamoto upgrade enabled faster blocks and sBTC, a 1:1 Bitcoin-backed asset that powers DeFi on Stacks.
